Venom was originally conceived as a sequel to 2008’s Spider-Man 3, but the project was scrapped after the film was released.
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige was quoted as saying at the time that the studio would “never give up on Spider-man.”
However, the studio has yet to announce a successor to the superhero franchise.
We’re still waiting for Venom 3, which was originally set to be directed by Sam Raimi and stars Tom Hardy and Gina Carano, to hit theaters in 2018.
